Run, hustle, thrive – We are often told to “live fast, move fast” by many, encouraging us to lead a fast-paced lifestyle. And why? Because this is a fast-moving world. Text-and-breakup heartbreaks, food delivered faster than an ambulance, nature heating faster than the rains can cool, and people dumping their clothes faster than Earth completes one revolution.

The world moves unexpectedly fast in film industries – especially Bollywood. Being the producer of the highest number of movies in India is no Page 3 (see what we did there?).

In a world of fast-moving superstars, Vikrant Massey truly believes in the saying by Ralph Waldo Emerson – “Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience”. While the fraternity around him moves fast, he lives slow. And this is how people, he wins. There is a certain mystery to the way he approaches his life, both professionally and personally – his eclecticism can be attributed to his ‘non-mainstream’ take on both films and life, which is often reflected in his choice of roles. In fact, the raw vulnerability of his characters, intertwined with his constant success in ‘belonging’, can be extended as an allegory to the way he lives. Simply put, quality over quantity, always. Period.

The Paradox of Move Fast Live Slow

Remember the craze when smartphones launched the slo-mo feature in their cameras? Or how even in something as cliched as Bollywood movies, if a scene needs more attention, it is often rendered slow? All because there is a certain appeal in being slow – for from the slower things in life stem the detailed nuances, better understanding, and more absorbance. Even the foodies will swear – slow-roasted steak always tastes better.

So why live it slow?

Ironically, in this super-competitive world, we have been conditioned to hustle and be fast for we might be left behind.

Slow living is a mindset whereby you curate a more meaningful and conscious lifestyle that’s in line with what you value most in life. It means doing everything at the right speed. Instead of striving to do things faster, the slow movement focuses on doing things better. Often, It’s not about going at breakneck speed, but rather about slowing down, doing less, and focusing on what truly matters to you. Prioritizing your time and spending it on the things that truly mater to you is the key to a happy and meaningful life. Even Vikrant, amidst his busy schedule takes out time to give his wife a quick video call, or takes a break once his shoot is done rather than working on one project after another.

Slow living means living better, not faster.

By slowing down and intentionally placing your true values at the heart of your lifestyle – from your saying no to back-to-back meetings to a wardrobe that is slow (and longlasting), a slow living mindset encourages you to live in self-awareness and make conscious, purposeful decisions for the benefit of your well-being and that of the planet.

Vikrant Massey chooses to move fast and live slow.

Because he denies that being busy equates to being successful or important. He knows the importance of being present and in the moment, he celebrates quality over quantity, living with intent, being conscious and considered. He knows to adopt a slower mindset is to switch off autopilot and make space for reflection and self-awareness.
